Cremation Process

Planning a cremation involves several steps, and we are here to make the process as smooth as possible.

Cremation Process

At Gentle Hand Funerals, we support you with care and compassion throughout the cremation process. From transferring your loved one into our care to personally delivering their ashes and the death certificate, we are by your side every step of the way.

Cremation Service Options

We offer a range of service options to honour your loved one in a way that feels most meaningful to you and your family:

  • Traditional Funeral Service: A full-service ceremony held in a church, Chapel, or a non-traditional venue, followed by cremation.

  • No Service, No Attendance Cremation: A direct cremation with no viewing or preparation of your loved one.

  • Memorial Service: A gathering to honour your loved one, with or without their ashes present.

Preparing for the Cremation Service

Planning a cremation involves several steps, and we are here to make the

process as smooth as possible:

  1. We will schedule a meeting with you, the next of kin, and other family members for support. During this meeting, we will sign the Transfer of Authority to bring your loved one into our care.

  2. We will request and obtain the Medical Cause of Death from the General Practitioner or coordinate with the coroner if the death requires investigation.

  3. We will complete the details needed for Births, Deaths, and Marriages. We will lodge the death certificate on your behalf on the funeral day.

  4. We will complete the Application for Permission for Cremation.

  5. We will discuss your options and the products we offer to help personalise the service.

  6. We will handle all bookings and communication with the necessary parties.

  7. If applicable, we can assist with lodging claims for funeral insurance.

  8. On the day of the funeral, we will be there to support you and your family as you say farewell to your loved one.

  9. After the cremation, we will personally deliver your loved one’s ashes and the death certificate to you.

Taking Your Time with Ashes

We understand that deciding what to do with your loved one’s ashes can take time. There is no need to rush; trust that you will know when the moment feels right. If you decide to scatter the ashes, please be aware that some locations may require a permit to avoid fines.
